About the Founder

Adesewa Kowofoworola Lawal, fondly known as SewyJay or AKL, is a dynamic, visionary leader and purpose-driven entrepreneur with a growing global footprint. With a deep passion for empowering women and entrepreneurs, she has become a sought-after public speaker, certified business coach, and serial entrepreneur whose impact spans across Africa and now the United States.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education and Economics from Obafemi Awolowo University in Nigeria and is currently advancing her studies in the United States with a focus on management, data-driven decision-making, and innovation. Her academic journey continues to strengthen her work at the intersection of education, economics, faith, and entrepreneurship. With over 2,000 students taught and 1,000+ individuals mentored in personal development, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy, Adesewa’s coaching programs are known for delivering transformational results.

Impact may seem like an overused word, and culture shaping, an ambitious idea, yet these are the very words that define a woman helped by God and empowered to live her life in service to Him and others.

SEWAJAY, THE AKL BRAND

She is an ordained Deaconess in the Redeemed Christian Church of God. She is the founder of TheAKL_brand, a business academy for small medium enterprise. Above all, she is the visionary behind The God’s Women Empowerment Foundation; a faith-driven initiative committed to building safer and stronger communities for women through spiritual grounding, entrepreneurial and financial education, and community support. She also convenes The Called and Chosen Women Conference; the foundation’s flagship event, where women from different walks of life gather to rediscover identity, purpose, and power in Christ.

AKL was born and raised by a single mother in the bustling neighborhoods of Lagos Mainland, Nigeria. Growing up in a world that exposed her early to life’s harsh realities, Adesewa made an intentional choice to live differently — to rise above her environment and embody the kind of woman she longed to see. Her biggest inspiration was her mother, a resilient woman who juggled multiple businesses while actively volunteering in clubs dedicated to helping underprivileged communities. Watching her mother’s strength, generosity, and community spirit planted in Adesewa a deep love for business, service, and belonging.

In 2023, in obedience to God’s instruction, she founded The God’s Women Foundation, birthed through what began as The Babygirls’ Community — a growing movement of women being restored, healed, and empowered to become who God has called them to be. For Adesewa, the foundation is not just an organization; it’s a divine assignment, a living response to the call: “Gather Women.”

Guided by her anchor scripture, Isaiah 61:1–3, Adesewa lives as God’s woman — one who loves, leads, and serves. She believes every woman is called to be a Lover, Priest, and Messenger, and that healing and purpose begin when women return to their Creator for identity and direction.
With excellence, love, and impact at the core of her leadership, Adesewa Kofoworola Lawal embodies what it means to blend entrepreneurship with ministry — seeing every business, project, and assignment as a means to glorify God. Her peers describe her as bold, disciplined, and purpose-driven — a woman shaping culture through obedience, faith, and grace.
